FAQ'S

-DOES MY CHILD HAVE TO BE POTTY TRAINED?

No. Children attending JHELC do not have to be potty trained. Teachers will share our potty training policy and coordinate with

families to work out a plan that best fits.

 

-DOES THE SCHOOL PROVIDE MEALS? 

Yes! All locations provide breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack.

-WHAT IF MY CHILD HAS FOOD RESTRICTIONS?

Vegan and vegetarian meals can be requested.

-ARE YOUR PROGRAMS FREE?

Our DOE 3k & 4K programs are free and run for 6 hours and 20 minutes. Any time past or before 3k/4k hours are tuition based. 

All our two year old programs and our77th street 3 year old programs are fully tuition based.

-WHAT ARE YOUR HOURS?

We are open M-F 8:30-5:30 pm 

-DOES MY CHILD HAVE TO HAVE THEIR IMMUNIZATIONS?

Yes, all children must have up-to-date immunizations on file, as well as an annual flu shot. 

-CAN MY CHILD ATTEND BEFORE THEY TURN TWO?

No, all children must be two years old to attend. For example, if you enroll for Sep-June, and your child tuns 2 on Nov 13th, they can not attend until Nov 13th. 

-WHAT'S YOUR TEACHER/CHILD RATIO?

We strive to maintain higher than required ratios whenever possible. Currently all of our classrooms have 3 teachers!

-ARE YOU OPEN YEAR-ROUND?

We follow the regular school year calendar and are open September through June and are closed all of the majors breaks and holidays. 

-WHAT'S A TYPICAL DAY LIKE FOR THE CHILDREN?

-WHAT CURRICULUM DO YOU FOLLOW?

We follow Teaching Strategies Gold; Creative Curriculum. Children learn about the world around them using themes they can interact with on a day-to-day bases, such as trees, water, shoes, wheels, and clothes. Activities are engaging and based on age appropriate levels. Classrooms also support social-emotional skills, independence, language, and motor skills.

-HOW DO YOU COMMUNICATE WITH FAMILIES?

We use a combination of a digital portal to send direct messages, pictures, reminders, and documents. We also use email, phone calls, zoom, parent/teacher conferences and of course teachers are at the door every morning and afternoon.

-WHAT IS MY CHILD NEEDS SPEECH, OT, OR OTHER SERVICES?

Most providers are able to come in during school hours to work with children, either in the classroom or for pull-out services. 

-HOW DO I APPLY FOR THE 3K OR 4K PROGRAM?

Applications for our Department of Education contracted 3k/4k programs are done on-line, through the DOE website (link can be found on home page). Placement is given by the DOE. Priority is given to students currently attending a location that provides 3k/4k. 

-IS THERE A WAITLIST FOR YOUR PROGRAMS?

Normally our private tuition based programs do have waitlist. You can join by filling out the contact form on our site and letting us know what location you're interested in.

-CAN I CHANGE MY CHILD'S SCHEDULE AFTER ENROLLING?

Schedules can be increase or decreased based on availability and with proper notification. Other terms apply.
